I'm pleased to announce that I'll be serving as a judge for the INSPY blogger book award once again. This year will mark my fourth as a judge in the speculative fiction category. The shortlist is still being compiled by the awards committee; I'll update this blog post once the nominees have been announced.
I've discovered some great books through this content in the past, like the Angel Eyes trilogy and Heartless. Neither book is one I would probably have picked up on the shelf, but they're now personal favorites. I even cosplayed as Princess Uma at the 2015 Realm Makers con.
The contest also awards books in Contemporary Romance / Romantic Suspense, Historical Romance, General Fiction, Literature for Young People, and Mystery / Thriller. Past winners may be found at the INSPY website. The Speculative Fiction winner, Patrick W. Carr's excellent The Shock of the Night, went on to win a Realm Makers Genre award. The sequel is currently up for voting in the con's inaugural Alliance Award. You can find out more by visiting the INSPYs on social media, especially their Goodreads lists.
updated 5/3/2017 As promised, here are this year's INSPY nominations in the speculative fiction category:
Winners are set to be announced June 28th, so I've got a good amount of reading to start on. You can see the full shortlist of all categories, with links to more information about each book, over at the INSPY website.
