January 20 Prompt: Fairy tales, Cinderella & Djinn, three wishes, written for the One Thousand and One Nights.

Perhaps she only thought the tale good because it mirrored much of her own life: a girl trapped within the bonds of family obligation, the hope of magical salvation. But Scheherazade knew the king was not ready to hear of a prince deceived into marraige even were it blessed by the most holy of jinn. The storyteller, like the rag girl, would need thrice as many divine interventions before her time had come.
