Fix realized on the sixth repetition of this assurance that he had arrested himself alongside the Frenchman in a very flawed spell—but he was unable to escape until the ninth.
“I am glad to hear it, for I find my own is running slow,” and on turning his watch to match the other’s, they finally reached the next hour.
