What better way to celebrate independence than to know that Agent Peggy Carter is going to come back soon to protect our freedom and be awesome at the same time? Ever since the announcement was made I've been excited. Now Marvel has officially released a poster to get everyone pumped about the return of our favorite British people who somehow are always helping Americans protect this liberty (insert July 4th joke here).
Seriously, my luck with picking shows to watch this past year has been the best ever. I used to joke that I killed television programs; I only watched one or two regularly, and they usually died untimely deaths. But either I've gotten better at picking winners or tastes have really changed, because most of the shows I picked to look at this past year were renewed. Remember my hopeful predictions of fun during last year's Upfronts? Here's how well I did with my picks:
That's an astounding 5 out of 7 shows renewed. Flash, Galavant, and Agent Carter are definitely on my to-watch list, but new shows like the Arrow/Flash spinoff Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl also look fun. So that's ... four superhero shows to keep track of? Three of which are set in the same small screen universe? It feels like the world's tipped on its axis or something. Good thing Agent Carter's coming back to take care of things!
You can read my reviews from seasons one of Agent Carter and Galavant here on my blog, as well reviewing my live tweets from them and Flash over at Storify.
Bonus plug: I recently discovered the indie show Granite Flats via Netflix, a neat little period drama about a small town in the '60s that involves three junior sleuths, a secretive military base, spies, and more. I'd recommend it for the whole family (except perhaps the very youngest ones) as both escapist fun and thoughtful exploration of some tough issues.
