Today's the National Education Association's Read Across America day. Here are some ways to both further your reading pleasure and encourage the joy in others.

It's finally March, and what better way to celebrate than with some good books. Today's the National Education Association's Read Across America day. Here are some ways to both further your reading pleasure and encourage the joy in others.

  • Go to the library. Not only can you find free books, you can usually also enjoy community events with local authors and other book worms.
  • Review books. I've begun using Goodreads a lot in the last year, both to keep track of my "to read" list and to help spread the word about books I enjoy. You can also enter giveaway contests here and on author blogs, like the one Donita K. Paul is currently hosting in celebration of the ten year anniversary of her DragonQuest series.
  • Join a book group or reading challenge. These can either be in person or online. Worlds Without End is currently sponsoring several reading challenges for 2015.
  • Thank your favorite authors. Tweet to them, write a card, create fan art. Probably the best way to praise an author is to share their works with others.

If you don't have time for any of that today, you can also simply enjoy this musical tribute to reading. We've all been there.
