inspiration + perspiration = invention :: T. Edison ::
This week saw both the Golden Globes winners given out and the announcement of this year's Academy Award nominees. That means there's about a month and half for everyone to make their predictions before the Oscars air February 22.
I've only seen five of the films on this list. Once I read who was nominated I immediately wanted to know how many of them I might be able to catch online before the big date. A little searching and I was able to come up with the spreadsheet below. My major resources were Vox for a listing of which movies were still out in theatres and a wonderful little website I found last year called Can I Stream it? This site lets you search the major streaming and DVD rental companies at one go, plus you can sign up for an email when a movie becomes available on a platform of you choice.
Even before the nominees were announced I was interested in the How to Train Your Dragon sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy and Big Hero 6. One foreign film and documentary each are available to view on Netflix, so I might check those out, and a few may open up on the $2 movie house here in town. Other than that, it looks like I'll once again be watching Oscars knowing more from third-party sources than movies themselves.
How about you? How many will you try to see before Oscar night?
