A collection of one-shots based on Northanger Abbey: drabbles, flash fiction, missing scenes, and more. Title from Shakespeare's Othello, as quoted by Jane Austen in Chapter One. Now available as an eBook via Draft2Digital.
With General Tilney occupied that day at the parish meeting and the next at his club, the ladies at Northanger Abbey were able to enjoy Easter Monday as they pleased.
Miss Morland was unusually the more reticent at first, as she had been similarly fretful since Henry's departure. A romp outside soon put more warmth in both their hearts and their speech. One thing led to another and then they were racing about the gardens like much younger girls.
Their prize was jointly shared: they left the field arm in arm, Christian names and charity offered freely to each other.
Title from Chapter 10 of Northanger Abbey: "In chatting with Miss Tilney before the evening concluded, a new source of felicity arose to her."
