inspiration + perspiration = invention :: T. Edison ::
Here in the United States it's almost time for Thanksgiving. I'm very grateful for all the readers who have followed my writing over the past year, and especially all the faithful commenters who've encouraged me along the way.
This week also marks a holiday I only learned about by looking for seasonal ideas for a Trifles Light as Air installment: Saint Catherine's Day. Of course I had to look up more information about a holiday honoring a saint with the same name as our dear not-quite-a-heroine Catherine Morland. There's a good summary of the saint's life and martyrdom over at Oxford Reference. In England, it was once traditional to start Advent with Saint Catherine's Day, and there were many traditions associated with it, including fireworks and special cakes.
Dawn Nelson, an online storyteller, shares more in this video with a recipe that might serve just as well for a Thanksgiving Day desert.
Regardless of where you are or how you celebrate, I hope everyone is able to share the holiday weekend with their loved ones.
